It's the beginning of fall, and the top water bite is really taking off. I had a beautiful overcast day so I decided to get out my Froggin' Rod and throw a new frog that I have never tried before. I have never been a top-water pro. In fact I would rate myself as maybe a 5/10 at frog fishing. Which is why lately I have been "froggin' it" as often as possible.
The Spittin Wa Frog is a variation of the traditional hollow body frog with the addition of a popper front to it. I was getting significantly more blow-ups with the added action of this frog. The first part of the day I was walking it through some mossy vegetation with little success, so I decided to cast along a shallow bank with heavy vegetation and a severe drop off. With a medium speed retrieve I had the best results. But I also had decent success with a slow twitch twitch twitch pause cadence. I believe that a fast retrieve created to much disturbance in the water and discouraged many fish from biting.

Some modifications I would make to this particular frog is bending the hooks very slightly outward for better hook-sets. Also a good idea might be to add a trailer hook to the frog if you are having a hard time getting a good hook-set.
I was using 50LB Cabelas ripcord pro braid on an Abu Garcia Ora SX low profile Combo.
